You’ll schedule a consultation call with one of our in-house genealogists. We want to know your goals—what it is you’d like to accomplish. What are the questions that you need answered or the brick wall you've had for years? We'd also love to know what research you've already done. This will help us to shape your research project’s objectives.
After your consultation, our team will craft a questionnaire to identify any additional information the genealogist might need to know, and help you submit any research you’ve already completed along with your family tree (if you have it!). After you send over your information, we will review and package it to create a detailed project brief.
First, we assess the needs and requirements for your particular project. Then, we assign it to one of our professional genealogists whose skill-set, experience and geographic location are best-suited to achieve your goals. The assigned genealogist will develop a research plan which directly addresses your project objectives.
Once we have the proposed research plan, we will schedule a call with you to go over the proposal and answer any questions you may have. The research proposal will include information about your project’s assigned genealogist, the research plan, and the costs and timeline associated with your project.
When you decide to move forward with the proposed research, then the genealogist’s work begins! They will work through the research plan, combing through databases and record collections, or obtaining documents from repositories and archives. As the researcher works through the plan, you will receive general updates throughout the life of the project.
After the researcher delivers their results, our team will review it to ensure the proposed research was carried out, and the research is clear and understandable. The final deliverables will always include a narrative-style report, a detailed research calendar (log) and copies of any source documents that were found as part of your project.
